The French study tour was an unforgettable experience, allowing us to immerse ourselves in French culture and improve our knowledge of the language, all while having a lot of fun.

The tour began with a week-long stay in Paris. For many of us, this was our first time in the city, and seeing many famous French landmarks was amazing. The highlights included the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe in the centre of the city. This was also an excellent opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the environment and culture of the city. France is much colder than Australia, so gloves and a scarf were a must-have. The classical architecture was stunning, and trying French cuisine was a highlight of the tour.

After a week of sightseeing in Paris, we moved on to Lyon for the homestay program and language school. Upon arrival, we met our homestay families. At first, it was a little awkward however we warmed up to each other over the course of the next three weeks. Of course, the change to suddenly speaking French all the time was a little jarring, but we were able to adapt quite quickly. We began the three weeks of language school. While taxing, the four hours of French daily no doubt improved our language skills. In addition to these classroom hours, every day included a cultural activity around Lyon, such as visits to the Basilica and various museums. On the weekends, we were given the opportunity to explore Lyon with friends. Some of our personal highlights were shopping at Place Bellecour and exploring the expansive Parc de la Tête d'Or.
The tour concluded with a final day in Paris, including a celebratory dinner and nighttime cruise on the river Seine.
Overall, the French study tour was an unforgettable experience and we wholeheartedly recommend you consider going.
