Welcome to QA sport news for the start of Term 2. This year has already been jam packed with sporting opportunities. On the last day of Term 1 Year 10 and 11 students enthusiastically took part in our first of three QA Sport Days.
Our Sport Days are crafted to embrace all abilities, offering challenges, fun, and importantly, providing our students with a well-deserved break from the demanding IB Diploma journey while maintaining balance.
There are still many opportunities on offer for our students this year; including representative level sport, the QAHS Athletic Carnival, our Sports Day program, CAS, QA Gym and our ever-popular GRIT sessions (now offered in the mornings AND afternoons), as well as Sportacular Fridays!
Please join us in celebrating the success of our QAHS student athletes below.
Year 11 student competes at the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships held on the Sunshine Coast in April.
The Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships convenes annually, drawing over 6000 participants from Australia's 314 Surf Clubs. They gather to engage in over 480 beach and ocean competitions. This event stands as the largest of its kind, comparable in size to the Commonwealth Games in scale.
Year 11 student, Lucca Pither, competed for her local surf lifesaving club in a number of events. Lucca placed 6th out of 203 competitors in the U17 Board race and her club team finished 3rd out of 53 teams for the U17 Board relay events.
This is such an amazing result for Lucca up against the best in the country.
