The Term 2 Music Showcase was held on Wednesday 17 May, hosted by Year 10 and Year 11 music leaders: Olivia Ashley, Michaela D'Silva, Zia Kao, Natsuo Kikuchi, Hayley Papworth, Dante Pellegrino and Beau Zhang.
QAHS String Ensemble continued to impress opening the evening with Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by W.A. Mozart, directed by Ms Fimka Hampson. Similarly the QAHS Concert and Jazz Bands, directed by Ms Sue Purton and Mr Matthew Armstrong, continued their Eisteddfod performance preparation with strong programs.
Piano solos were performed individually by Crystal Chen, Irene Fan and Hikari Taniguchi, exploring the work of Debussy, Sibelius and Chopin respectively. There were also a number of fine vocal performances with duets by Lelarni Fletcher and Charlee Cowey, Maria Gagic and Zoe Cannen and solo vocal performances by Amy Clinton, and Lina Fang.
Flynn Edwards continued his unbroken record of continual soiree / showcase performances, with a rendition of Slow Violence by Calligula's Horse. And it was fantastic to see a return of QA Pop, with an inspired and intricately choreographed dance performance by Alexander Stevens and James Wong.
Thanks very much to those families, students and staff who braved the cool evening to attend, we look forward to seeing you next time!
