QAHS students have been engaged in a variety of school-based and external sporting competitions this term. We have had athletes competing in sporting competitions including swimming, basketball, volleyball, athletics, weight lifting, archery and surf lifesaving – just to name a few! Next Thursday 11 May is the second QA Sport Day for Year 10 and 11 students.

Four students compete in the Australian Age Championships for swimming
We would like to recognise the amazing efforts and congratulate Justin, Luca, Madeline and Vanessa on their recent results at the championships. This is the largest annual event on the Swimming Australia calendar and attracts thousands of athletes and spectators to one of the country's premier swimming venues – Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
Justin Kim – 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke
Luca Knezevic – 50 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke
Madeline Howell – 50 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke

Year 12 student represents South Coast School Sport at the Volleyball State Championships

QAHS Volleyball leader Joaquin Segui recently competed at the QLD School Sport Volleyball State Championships in Brisbane. The 4-day competition was a great success, with Joaquin's team (South Coast 16 – 19yr Boys) receiving the Bronze Medal overall against the ten regions. The South Coast team won their final match with 3-2 in sets, with a final set score of 19-17. We congratulate Joaquin and the South Coast team on a successful tournament. Joaquin will now turn his attention on leading our QAHS teams to the Volleyball Queensland Schools Tournament in July.
Four students represent QAHS at the Broadwater District Cross Country Championships

Following on from the hotly contested QAHS Cross Country event, we had four students progress to the next level at the Broadwater District event on Thursday.
Congratulations to Mia Bergh, Christian Palakuzhy, Taylah Morris and Vanessa Snook for proudly representing QAHS at the event. We look forward to sharing the results shortly!
Year 10 student recruited in the 2032 Olympic preparation squad for archery

In her third appearance in this week's sport update, Year 10 student Vanessa Snook is engaging in an Archery preparation program – on the journey towards Queensland's 2032 Olympics. Vanessa will be competing in her first archery National Championships in June.
